For Art class, we were assigned a project based off of earth artist Andy Goldsworthy's work. For my project, I decided to do a collection of words written in flowers to symbolize the connection between the Earth and it's people using the power of words. Words have always been very important to me, as a writer, but modern society suggests picking up an ipod rather then a book. Though it is true that the pen is mightier then the sword, most people think otherwise. The
beauty of nature and the power of words are two remarkable things that many fail to see. By definition beauty is not just a person, nor is it an object, but the world around us and the way we see it through our own eyes. In essence, it is how we see things, not by comparison but in our own way. And that, I think, is a truly beautiful thing.

As I said, Andy Goldsworthy is a nature artist. He uses natural reasorces to build his masterpices. The way that nature erodes and affects his pieces is part of the art. Here, I am building my words in the field at our school. It was hard to put them together because I had to have the right shapes flowers and I had to plant them securely in the ground. It was quite windy and my artwork kept bolwing away!
After picking the flowers, I arranged them in the way I wanted on the grass. I used primarily dandylions, but sometimes I used other wildflowers. My work turned out different then first expected when I thought about doing something with wild flowers. I planed a three dementional structure made out of found things in the woods. In truth, I was just brain storming and was keeping my hands buesy by arranging what I had collected on the grass.
This was my first piece that I made at project sprout, our school garden. Wile working, I didn't face any challenges exept for gathering materials. When gathering wildflowers on the trail, one must be sure to wear pants, but I wore shorts, All of the bugs swarmed at my legs and I got eaten alive. It was not worth it, for the flowers I got out of it, that I manages to collect wile jumping up and down so I could escape the pests!
If I could go back and do anything differently, I would have used more of a variety of wildflowers. I used mostly dandelions, but if I had incorporated other flowers, it would have a more diverse affect. Through this project, I learned that you have to work with the world around you. If you have an image in your head, most times it will have to be adjusted to what you have. Never the less, it will turn out great anyway if you put your heart into it.
